    • E-2.2: applies safety guidelines when communicating electronically
    • E-3.1: evaluates effects of personal ICT behaviour on others
    • E-3.2: weighs personal benefits and risks of using ICT

Objectives:
  • To increase student knowledge of internet safety
  • To teach students skills on how to use the internet responsibly, ethically, and safely
  • To show students where, when and how to report instances of online crime
  • to teach students how to protect themselves from inappropriate online behaviour

  • Have students brainstorm (independently or in groups) as many dangers that the internet poses that they can think of
  • Have the students complete an "internet and real world" Venn diagram to compare and contrast the differences in doing things online versus doing them in everyday life

Acquire


  • Discuss the importance of reporting online crime immediately and direct the students towards the following websites where they can report online crime:
